General Jewelry Sizing Info:
Average Women's Ring size is 6.
Average Men's Ring size is 10.
Most Popular Woman's Necklace length is 18 inches.
Most Popular Men's Chain length is 20 to 24 inches.
The Chain or Necklace length most often returned: 16 inches (too short in most people's eyes).
To determine your length of Chain or Necklaces, use a piece of string to measure a current chain that you already own and use a ruler with the string to get the final measurement that you want. When in doubt - go 1 or 2 inches long.
Most Women prefer a Necklace width between 1.5mm and 3mm.
Most Men prefer a Chain width between 3mm and 6mm.
The width of Chain or Necklace with the highest amount of returns is 1mm (too thin for most people once they get it.). Don't get 1mm unless you know you will want this size. It has a nice elegant look but is on the thin side.
Anklets and Bracelets should be measured loosely, you do not want a tight fit on these items.
Most Popular Men's Bracelet Length is 8 inches.
Most Popular Women's Bracelet Length is 7 inches.
Medallion, Charm or Pendant Size considered too small by most: Anything under 12mm and some think up to 15mm. Anything under 15mm, you need to be sure that this is a good size for you. Some charms, pendants or medals need to be this size, but many are on the tiny side for most people when they are under 15mm.

The bulk of the chain purchases are made in the 2mm to 4mm width range. With men tending to buy thicker chains and women staying closer to the 1.5mm to 2mm area. Keep in mind that some styles are prone to be larger like a Figaro Chain for example where a Rope Chain generally isn't as thick/wide.
A typical purchase by a man would be a 20 to 24 inch, 3 to 4mm Figaro Chain and a typical purchase by a woman would be an 18 inch, 1.5mm to 2mm Rope Chain. Yellow Gold + Platinum seems to be the most popular with Men, although White Gold is picking up steam. White Gold and Silver seem to be the favorite metals for women.

MM to Carat Conversion Table
Use this chart to convert MM to Carat weight for Diamonds and Cubic Zirconia. Keep in mind, stone quality, cut, etc. will make a difference so use this for an estimate. For other gems, you can "eyeball" the data given for Diamonds and other gems below.
How do use this chart? If you see a Gem size that says 6.5mm - that equates to about a 1 carat diamond, 1 3/4 carat in Cubic Zirconia, 1.26 carat for an Emerald and about 1.41 carat for a Ruby on average. It's a good gauge but not exact.

Here are 3 examples on how the three blue charts above are used: A 2mm Emerald would be .04 carats. A 6.5mm Ruby would be 1.41 carats and a 8mm Sapphire would yield about 2.25 carats. Keep in mind this is an estimate and quality, cut, etc. would determine the final and exact carat size.
